The basement - even rougher still

Do you really want to go down there?
A furnace to date all furnaces
Not where I would want to keep my clothes!
Or where I would want to wash my clothes!

A diamond even rougher - upstairs

Original 1915 hall bathroom

Much work to be done on the second floor too:

How not to add closets

the result: a hidden bay window

next bedroom; more added closets
a captive not-quite-a-bedroom

gas lights, then electrified, soon to be abandoned

A diamond in the rough: the "before" photos

First Floor; not-so-good first impressions

Nice & husky fireplace surrounded by smelly shag carpet

Painted oak balustrade

Paneled dining room walls

Beamed dining room ceiling

a kitchen - hardly!

Not exactly the latest in kitchens!

Welcome to 6916 Bishop Street

Come inside to learn more about the renovations taking place at 6916 Bishop Street in the Morningside neighborhood of Pittsburgh.

It's not everyday that someone buys a house at a yard sale...  But, yet that was the case here...  Well, sort of...  It was at the Morningside Yard Sale that we first noticed the empty house.  After asking the neighbor next door about it, she quickly went and found its owner who, a few years earlier, had left it to move in with his mother just a few doors down the street.  He was happy to show it to us in hopes that we might buy it.  And, what an interesting townhouse it was.  Clearly, well built and with nice details.
